Ethos
The following presents the Ethos of South Chatham Community Church. The New Testament was written in Greek and the word Ethos is a Greek word and denotes the guiding beliefs or ideals or values that characterize a community. We want these values to define and drive this ministry in the context of a warm and caring environment.
We Value Prayer and the Holy Scriptures
South Chatham Community Church recognizes that the Holy Scriptures are an essential part of our connection and growth in faith. We believe that prayer and the Holy Scriptures are powerful ways that God communicates with his followers and those that are far from God. Both are essential to the spiritual development and maturity of followers of Jesus.
Supporting Passages (Prayer): Matthew 5:44; Matthew 6:5-13; Romans 8:24-27
Supporting Passages (Scripture): 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12
We Value People
South Chatham Community Church desires to be multicultural, multigenerational and multiracial. There must be a blend in harmony between various age groups, socioeconomic groups and cultural groups. Our focus is not on our diversity, but rather, on the One who brings us together in unity. We appreciate our differences and seek to learn from them and to grow together in faith and love. House churches play a major part in the development of these relationships.
We are passionate about initiating conversations and forming relationships that lead to intimate discussions that allow people to understand Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Supporting passages (paragraph 1): Joel 2:28-29; Revelation 5:9
Supporting passages (paragraph 2): Acts 17:30; Colossians 4:6
We Value Multiplying Leaders and Sending them Out
South Chatham Community Church realizes the importance of developing and training leaders who are driven by the leading of the Holy Spirit and willing to take faith-filled risks in order to expand God’s kingdom on earth. These leaders will be sent out to make disciples locally and in cities throughout the country and the world by starting churches.
Supporting passages: Numbers 7:10; 1 Peter 5:2-3; Romans 12:8

South Chatham Community Church will be a place where people can feel comfortable with one another and free to laugh and enjoy each others’ company with Jesus Christ in the midst.
Supporting passages: Job 33:28; Ecclesiastes 2:25; Ecclesiastes 8:15; 1 Timothy 6:17
